Standoff with police in Brewer after man threatens to murder his family

Police arrested a Brewer man at his apartment after a several hour standoff on State Street Saturday night, according to our info partners at CBS13.

Antonio Burke, 48, of Brewer was arrested on multiple charges after police say Burke had damaged property, attempted to assault a person with a knife, and threatened to return with a firearm to murder his ex-girlfriend and her children.

The Penobscot County Sherriff’s Office Special Response Team was requested to the scene around 6:30, and with the assistance of the Bangor Police Department, a perimeter was established and phone contact was made with Burke.

The units convinced Burke to surrender around 11:50 pm.

Burke was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, and criminal mischief.er
