AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Maine has agreed to drop the last 13 complaints against an oral surgeon who faced allegations of poor patient care.
The Maine Board of Dental Practice’s decision comes after three years of investigations and hearings into Lewiston Dr. Jan Kippax.
The dentist’s license was temporarily suspended amid allegations that he extracted the wrong teeth and continued painful procedures against his patient’s wishes.
The state dismissed the majority of the claims against Kippax in December 2017.
Kippax’s lawyer said Tuesday the board’s decision proves suspending the doctor without due process was an “egregious error based on false allegations” and a “shamefully biased investigation.”
Former patient Donna Deigan tells the Sun Journal she is “disturbed, disgusted and disappointed” now that her case has been dropped.
