HERMON, Maine (AP)  Maine State Police say four people were seriously injured in a morning head-on crash involving three vehicles in Hermon.

Police say around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a driver heading east on Route 2 crossed the center dividing line. WABI-TV reports the driver slammed into another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The third car involved in the crash had minor damage.

State Trooper Steve Morrell says there were two people in each vehicle and four were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officials say it appears everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.

Police closed part of Route 2 for several hours while they reconstructed the crash.
