One man in custody following multiple shootings in Washington County

(WASHINGTON COUNTY) Maine State Police say one man is in custody in connection with shootings in Washington County.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says there are multiple victims in the shootings, which took place in Machias and Jonesboro Monday morning. State troopers, Sheriff’s deputies, the Maine Warden Service and Maine Forestry Service responded to the scene. Machias area schools were also placed in lockdown around 11 a.m.

Police said they were planning to provide an update at 5 p.m.
