A suspect is in custody following an incident in Waterboro.

The York County Sheriff’s Office says the incident came to an end Wednesday afternoon, after a large police presence including a tactical team blocked off Sunrise Road.

Police said a suspect was taken into protective custody and brought to the hospital, but details about the incident have not been released.

Neighbors on a community Facebook page said it appeared the suspect was involved in a standoff, though that has not been confirmed by police.

We’re also following another incident in Standish involving a police presence which shut down Dow Road on Wednesday morning. Shannon Moss with the Maine Department of Public Safety said police were responding to a “suspicious incident” there, though it’s not yet clear if it’s connected to what happened in Waterboro.
