STOCKTON SPRINGS, Maine (BDN) A police officer in Stockton Springs faces several charges over allegations he sexually assaulted a teenager several times over the course of six months.

The Bangor Daily News writes that 32-year-old Christopher Hast of Rockland, who has worked part-time for the department since 2015, is charged with 12 counts of gross sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl.

The alleged incidents began last spring, and the girl came forward to a guidance counselor in late October. She said Hast believed himself to be her boyfriend.

According to an affidavit, he insinuated he wanted to kill the girl’s mother so that the two could be together.

Hast is also accused of sending the girl sexually explicit links online, requesting explicit photos of her, and asking her to delete any messages to or from him.

Hast denied having sex with the girl.

Hast is being held on $10,000 bail and is expected to appear in court early next year. He was placed on unpaid administrative leave.
