Accuweather Meteorologist Joe Lundberg does not think the rain will melt all the snow before Christmas.
“Some of the snow pack will absorb that, but some of it, obviously is going to be lost.” said Lundberg. “I don’t think we lose all of it, and then what’s left just becomes one big piece of ice for Friday night.”
Lundberg says another storm will cross through the region on Christmas Day that may cause travel concerns.
“I’m not sure what form the precipitation is going to take with that,” Lundberg said. “It could be icy stuff that would be on Christmas Day. That would be lovely for Christmas. Hopefully that won’t come to fruition, but that’s something we have to keep our eye on.”
Lundberg says temperatures have been below normal for the past three weeks or so and will bounce up and down from normal to a little below normal for the next week to 10 days.
