Student killed after getting hit by school bus in Rockland (UPDATED)

A 12-year-old boy was struck and killed by a school bus in Rockland, Friday afternoon.

The pedestrian crash happened at the intersection of Eliza Steele Drive and Broadway at around 2:15.

According to the Midcoast Villager, the student, Brayden Callahan, was first taken to Pen Bay Hospital in Rockport, then airlifted to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he succumbed to his injuries.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover the cost of Callahan’s funeral.

The driver of the bus was Jeff Colburn, a driver for Regional School Unit 13 since August of 2016.

The crash is under investigation.
