ROCHESTER, New Hampshire (WGAN) Police say a man who led police on a chase that started in Sanford, Maine was shot and killed.
The New Hampshire Attorney General says 38 year-old Douglass Heath was shot and killed by officers in Rochester after being chased by police. Police say he was wanted on charges of trafficking narcotics and fleeing Maine State Police back on June 11th.
Heath led troopers on a chase that started in Sanford. The chase led them along Route 202 to Lebanon, where police stopped following him due to public safety concerns.
Police say Heath’s car was later tracked down to a residence on Second Street in Lebanon, where he was living at the time. They later learned that he had fled on foot and had likely been picked up by a vehicle and left the area.
Heath was killed in a gunfight with police on Monday. The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues, which is standard procedure.
