Tax Group Rallies in Augusta Against Current Fed Policies

A group focused on tax policy is voicing concern about current federal policy.

Mainers for Tax Fairness held a rally in Augusta Tuesday, claiming Congress is gutting programs such as Social Security, veterans care and education to support tax cuts for the rich.

A series of speakers expressed support for state-level tax increases, including on incomes over $1 million and on home sales over $1 million.

The group also spoke out against current efforts in Congress to extend the 2017 federal tax cuts that are set to expire this year.
