Teacher in Gardiner Arrested with Sexually Assaulting Teen


GARDINER, Maine (WGAN)  A teacher at Gardiner Area High school as been charged with sexually assaultinga 16-year-old girl.

Maine State Police have charged 43-year-old John Glowa, Jr. with two counts of gross sexual assault and one count of furnishing liquor to a minor, according to the Kennebec County Jail.

Police say the victim was not a student at the school.

The Readfield man is accused of giving the girl alcohol and assaulting her while she was drunk on Jan. 23 in Mount Vernon.  Police say the girl told her boyfriend about the alleged incident and he in turn told his father, who contacted the police.

Glowa is expected to be in court Wednesday afternoon.
