A judge on Tuesday decided that a South Portland teen accused of planning a school shooting last spring will be tried in juvenile court.

The 17-year-old boy is accused of making threats and trying to recruit another person for the plan. He’s pleaded not guilty to criminal solicitation for murder, arson, and terrorizing.

New evidence included video and photo of the teen setting fire to stolen pride flags and throwing Molotov cocktails at a sports complex.

Other evidence included pictures of the teen posing with guns and captions related to school shootings.

If tried as an adult, the teen could have faced a life sentence for criminal solicitation to commit murder.
