MONTVILLE, Maine (WGAN)  One person has died after a car accident in Montville Wednesday morning.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 8 a.m. on North Mountain Valley Highway.  Police say 16-year-old Riley Boulay was on the way to school when he crashed.  Despite life-saving efforts by witnesses and first responders, Boulay died from his injuries.

Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.  They say Boulay’s 2001 Volkswagen Beetle was going north when he lost control, left the roadway and hit multiple trees.

The crash remains under investigation.

Administrators and staff at Mount View School district have assembled crisis teams to help students, families and community members cope with Boulay’s death.  All after school activities were canceled, but the school will be open until 7 p.m. to make those services available.
