A 14-year-old escaped from Maine’s Long Creek Youth Development center last Friday.

The Maine Department of Corrections says the teen escaped the facility around 9:30 p.m., and they were taken into custody by South Portland police just before midnight.

Officials say they determined how the teen escaped and are working to prevent future escapes, but no details were released.

Officials are not identifying the teen because they’re a juvenile.

Last July, 18-year-old Davyn Flynn and a 16-year-old boy escaped the facility by jumping off the roof.

They were arrested in Massachusetts and Maine about four days after their escape.
