Teens charged after trying to break into Jay home, police say

JAY, Maine (WGAN) Two teenagers are accused of trying to break into a home in Jay.

The boys, ages 13 and 16, allegedly tried to break into a home on Belmont Drive on Tuesday.

Police say the teens ran from officers when they arrived, but they followed the boys’ footprints and located them on Intervale Rd. in Jay.

The Sun Journal reports that the teens were charged with attempted burglary and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

The 16-year-old was released to his legal guardian, while the 13-year-old was taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.
