TEMPLE, Maine (WGAN) A Temple man is under arrest and facing several charges after causing a standoff Thursday.

Franklin County Sheriff Scott R. Nichols says police responded to 34 Cummings Hill Road around 12:45pm to a report of a domestic violence assault. They learned that 27-year-old Brian Mackin, of Temple, had assaulted his father at the home and then fled before they arrived. Police had received a report that Mackin may have been armed with a handgun and a knife.

Police eventually found Mackin around 4:45pm back at the home. A perimeter was established and police were able to make contact with Mackin over the phone, speaking with him for over two hours. After that, Mackin surrendered and was taken into custody when a tactical team entered the home. Police say they didn’t discover any weapons in the home.

Mackin was charged with Domestic Violence Terrorizing Violating Conditions of release and Aggravated Assault. He is being held pending initial appearance.
