Thanksgiving is here at last, and with that, Maine is celebrating.
For example, Portland’s annual turkey day tradition, the Thanksgiving 4 Miler, which had an amazing turnout today.
According to organizers of the run, around 1,000 people showed up in downtown Portland today. The races even get national attention, as runners from 25 states come up to run the race through downtown Portland.
Maine also showed it gives back to the community. According to our info partners at CBS 13, Biddeford and Saco came together today to cook Thanksgiving dinner for around 800 to 850 people in the Most Holy Trinity Church, which was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
Brad Goulet, a volunteer who’s been working for the church for 21 years told CBS 13 “You have people who may be homeless, you have people who just don’t have anybody, and they want to come and be with other people while they have their thanksgiving meal”.
This is also the first Thanksgiving for some people where they’ve sat down, side-by-side with each other since the pandemic.
