THORNDIKE, Maine (WGAN) Maine State Police say a Thorndike man was shot by a state trooper in a confrontation outside of the man’s home.

State police say it happened at the home of 33-year-old Eric Fitzpatrick on Ward Hill Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Fitzpatrick was brought to Eastern Maine Medical Center with two gunshot wounds after getting shot in a confrontation with Trooper Thomas Bureau.

Police were responding to a report of a neighborhood disturbance, which then became a domestic incident involving Fitzpatrick and his girlfriend.

Bureau was placed on paid administrative leave while Maine State Police and the attorney general’s office investigate, which is standard procedure for an officer-involved shooting.
