Law enforcement officials say threats sent out by email to schools in the state on Thursday were deemed to be hoaxes.

Public Information Officer Shannon Moss said the Maine Information Analysis Center was aware of multiple threats directed toward schools in the state. She said the center will continue to report any updates.

Earlier in the day, a hold-in-place order was put into effect at schools in RSU 21, which includes Kennebunkport, Kennebunk and Arundel.
