Three charged in Topsham meth bust

TOPSHAM, Maine (WGAN) Three people were arrested in Topsham and charged with possessing and selling methamphetamine.

Police said the arrests happened Thursday night following a months-long investigation by drug agents into the sale of crystal meth along the mid-coast and in Penobscot and Aroostook counties.

Police stopped a vehicle being driven by 29-year-old Danielle McBreairty of Glenburn and Caribou at the Topsham Fair Mall Thursday night.

Also in the vehicle were 21-year-old Thomas hammond of Fort Fairfield and 31-year-old Justin Smith of Lewiston. Inside the vehicle, police found meth and cocaine with a street value of $60,000, along with a loaded handgun.

All three were taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
