Toddler struck by tow truck in Chelsea dies

Maine State Police say a toddler was killed after getting hit by a tow truck in Chelsea.

State police say the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on Windsor Road. The 62-year-old truck driver was heading north when he hit the 21-month-old girl who had wandered into the road and laid down.

The driver didn’t realize it was a child in the road until he struck her.

The child was pronounced dead after being brought to Maine General Hospital.

No other information was available as of Wednesday.
