Maine game wardens rescued a three-year-old and a two-year-old after they got lost in the woods in Franklin County Wednesday evening.

Wardens say the two siblings were playing with their older brother outside their home on Heron Mark Lane in Phillips when the two ran down the driveway, onto the road, and then out of sight.

The brother and his parents searched for the children, but they had no luck and called for help. Wardens responded around 5 p.m. and searched the area using ATVs, K9s, and an aircraft.

Just before 8 p.m., K-9 Storm picked up the children’s scent and was able to follow it to their location.

The children were found huddled together in a heavily wooded remote area off Number Six Road, about a half-mile away from home.

The children were checked out by EMS and then released to their parents.
