BANGOR, Maine (AP) A tongue-twisted couple from the blooper reel from a Dysart’s commercial in Maine has served as an inspiration for “Saturday Night Live.”
The SNL skit featured a tongue-twisted couple just like the real couple who garnered more than 4.5 million views on YouTube after the husband repeatedly flubbed his line about “buttery, flaky crust.”
Will Ferrell and Kate McKinnon stood in for Jack and Sonya Palmer of Hermon, Maine.
Dysart’s General Manager John Mason tells the Bangor Daily News that the skit based on the 2012 commercial bloopers was an “awesome” surprise.
The original video was produced by Sutherland Weston Marketing Communications in Bangor. Elizabeth Sutherland, a partner, tells WLBZ-TV that it’s hard to beat the chemistry of the Maine couple who’ve been married for more than 50 years.
