Traffic cameras are coming to I-95 and I-295 in Maine.
The state Department of Transportation says the project will cost about $970,000 and is meant to improve Interstate Highway safety conditions.
The cameras on I-295 will be installed at the Falmouth exit to Bucknam Road (Exit 10), the Route 1 exit to Yarmouth and Cumberland (Exit 15), and the Desert Road exit in Freeport (Exit 20).
Cameras on I-95 will be put on place at exits 109 and 112 in Augusta, Exit 120 in Sidney, Exits 127 and 130 in Waterville and Exit 133 in Fairfield.
Work is scheduled to begin next Monday, July 28, and be finished by October 30. Drivers traveling along the interstate should expect closure of shoulders in project areas. Night work will be conducted as well.
The Department of Transportation has contracted with Electric Light, Inc. of Cape Neddick, Maine to install the cameras.
