Truck Driver Arrested for Driving with Suspended License After Being Stopped Twice in Three Days

AUBURN, Maine (WGAN)  State Police say a Florida man is behind bars after being stopped twice in three days for driving without a license.

State Police say they pulled Ralph Toro over Friday while he was driving a tractor trailer on Route 1 in Yarmouth.

Police say during their inspection process, they found the 48-year-old’s right to operate a motor vehicle was under ten active suspensions in New York and was also suspended in North Carolina.  That means Toro shouldn’t have been driving a commercial vehicle in any of the 50 states, according to police.

Police say Toro’s log book was also falsified and he had been driving beyond his hours.

Toro was placed out of service for a ten hour period to make sure he was properly rested, say police, and the truck was towed from the scene.  He was issued criminal summonses for driving after being disqualified and for operating with a false log book.  Police say they warned Toro if he was found driving again before taking care of his license issues, he would be arrested.

Three days later, on Monday, another trooper stopped a tractor trailer for routine inspections in Auburn and found Toro behind the wheel of a different truck.  He hadn’t taken care of his suspensions and once again had falsified the log book.

Police arrested Toro, charging him with operating after being disqualified, falsifying his lob gook and operating after being placed out of service.  He was taken to Androscoggin County Jail where bail was set at $1,500 cash.
