Two dogs have perished after the truck they were in caught fire outside of a Rockland restaurant Friday night.

The Rockland Fire Department says they received a call about a vehicle on fire parked by the Primo Restaurant around 7:05 p.m.

The fire department responded within two minutes of the call and say it took around 400 gallons of water to put the flames out.

According to CBS 13, an investigation has led officials to believe the fire was started by a small burn pile of leaves and brush that a worker had started. The worker allegedly left the burn pile after it had burned down to ashes. Later, a customer of the restaurant unknowingly parked their truck over the burn pile, which is believed to have ignited the truck’s gas tank.
