Heather Zehr, a meteorologist from AccuWeather, says a quick-moving storm system will bring snow Tuesday, with minimal accumulation of snow expected around Portland.

Zehr said any accumulation would likely take place inland from Portland, especially at higher elevations.

Although the average high is 50 in Portland for Tuesday, the actual temperature will in in the upper 30s, with winds with gusts up to 30 mph that’ll make it feel colder.

Zehr says warmer weather will keep any more snow from falling, at least for the next couple of weeks.

“Once we get past this little cold shot, we don’t have a whole lot of any kind of lasting chill, or even as deep of a chill as what we’ve got kind of going on here for tomorrow and into Wednesday.,” said Zehr.

She also thinks, moving ahead, we won’t likely see a repeat of last spring when there were 13 straight weekends with rain.

“It doesn’t seem like we’re likely to get a repeat of that Ill-timed precipitation, because we’d get some decent weather during the week,” Zehr. “Even in that wetter stretch when we’d get days that were dry, it just never seemed to come on the weekend, when we all have the best opportunities to be able to take advantage of that. So, it seems less likely that that’s going to be the case here as we go through this spring.”

The 13 straight weekends of rain last spring extended into June in the Portland area.
