The Ramada Inn on North St. in Saco was the site of a police standoff early Monday morning.

When police arrived at the scene, they say they found two guests breaking windows and other items inside their hotel room.

Police say the occupants claimed to be on hallucinogenic drugs and barricaded themselves inside the room.

They claimed to have weapons and chemicals and reportedly threatened to kill officers.

Police eventually forced their way into the room and arrested 34-year-old Timothy Nichols of Hartland and 40-year-old Nicole Davis of Hartland.

A 7-year-old child who was in the room was brought to the Saco Police Dept. and Maine DHHS and other family members were contacted to care for the child.

A dog that was in the room was reportedly hurt while the suspects damaged items that were inside.

The dog was taken to an area animal hospital for treatment.
