Two arrested following stabbing in Sanford

Two Sanford men are facing charges after a stabbing early Thursday morning.

Derrick Roberts-Poulin and Jordan Roberge, who are both 21, are charged with robbery and elevated aggravated assault.

They allegedly stole a man’s bicycle near the intersection of Emery St. and Heritage Crossing.

During the confrontation, one suspect allegedly fired a gun several times, while the other stabbed the victim, 38-year-old William Southworth.

The victim was listed in stable condition at the hospital Friday morning.

As part of their investigation, police obtained a search warrant and collected evidence from a home on Main Street.

The two suspects were interviewed and arrested at the police station.

A press release from the Sanford Police Dept. said the incident “highlights the vulnerability of the unhoused population.”
