Two charged with holding couple at gunpoint in Bangor

Police say two people are charged with holding a man and a woman at gunpoint in Bangor.

Police said the couple were in a home on Court Street around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Two people allegedly entered the residence and assaulted the man, then held the couple at gunpoint in a bathroom.

The male victim was able to gain control of the gun and escape by jumping out the window.

Both victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police identified the suspects as 41-year-old David Bennett of Bangor and 28-year-old Kaniah Sockabasin of Pleasant Point. Both were taken to Penobscot County Jail.

No other details are being released as the investigation continues.
