Two Juveniles Escape Long Creek, Steal Vehicle

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The South Portland Police Department is investigating an incident involving two juvenile escapees from the Long Creek Youth Development Center.

On Friday evening around 7:30 p.m., authorities responded to the center for a reported escape attempt. Shortly after, police received a report of a strong-armed robbery at the nearby 10 Liberty Lane parking lot.

The suspects, believed to be the escaped juveniles, allegedly fled the scene in a stolen white Honda Civic with Maine license plate number 401BBK. While a firearm was mentioned during the robbery, no weapon was actually seen.

The Maine Department of Corrections has activated its apprehension team and is cooperating with local law enforcement. The agency reported last sighting the suspects in Biddeford around 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

South Portland Police have issued warrants for robbery, theft, and assault. Information about the stolen vehicle and the suspects has been shared with law enforcement agencies nationwide. Due to confidentiality laws, the identities of the juveniles cannot be released.

In an update posted at 12:00 PM on the South Portland Police Department’s Facebook page the vehicle has been located, however the two suspects remain at large.

Both the South Portland Police Department and the Maine Department of Corrections are conducting full investigations into the incident.

On Friday, July 26th, at approximately 7:28 PM, the South Portland Police Department responded to the Liberty Commons apartment complex for a robbery complaint. A female victim reported being forcibly removed from her vehicle by two unknown males, who then stole her vehicle. A weapon was threatened, but one was never displayed. The victim’s vehicle was located in Casco the following morning, and brought back to the South Portland Police station for evidentiary processing. The investigation occurred throughout the weekend and all day Monday, when two suspects were identified.
At approximately 6 PM on Monday, July 29th, arrest warrants were issued for the two suspects, charging Robbery (class A), Criminal Threatening (class D), Assault (class D), and Terrorizing (class D).
​​​​Suspect #1 has been identified as Davyn FLYNN, 18 years old from Portland. Recent Cumberland County Jail booking photos of Flynn are attached.
Suspect #2 is a 16 year old male, whose name will not be released at this time.
