Androscoggin County deputies say two teenage boys boy face charges after going on a crime spree that included burglaries and stolen vehicles in several cities and towns.
They say the teens, ages 16 and 17, targeted four gun and marijuana businesses in Turner and Sabattus.
Those businesses include Northeastern Firearms, G3 Firearms, and Vacationland Cannabis in Turner, as well as First Due Firearms in Sabattus.
The teens are also linked to the theft of three vehicles in Portland, Westbrook, and Auburn. Those vehicles were later recovered by the Westbrook Police Department and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say they relied on surveillance footage, forensic and digital evidence, and coordinated efforts among several law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest the suspects.
The 16-year-old was taken into custody on April 2 by the Portland Police Department on a warrant issued by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the case.
The 17-year-old was arrested on April 20 by the Portland Police Department on a separate warrant obtained by the Sheriff’s Office.
Police say no identifying information will be released because of the juvenile status of the suspects.
The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed.
