Two Women Killed in Wednesday Night Auburn Crash

Two adult women who were passengers in a van are dead after a Wednesday crash in Auburn just before 7 pm.

Poilce say the van was attempting to cross Washington Street from Beech Hill Road when it was hit by an oncoming pickup truck.

Both women were taken to Central Maine Medical Center where they died, while the driver of the pickup truck was not seriously injured.

The crash is still under investigation.

The van is owned by John F. Murphy Homes.

The names of people involved are not being released as this time, pending family notifications.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The Auburn Police Department is being assisted with the crash reconstruction by the Lewiston Police Department.

Washington Street was closed for several hours after the crash and reopened at about 10:30 pm Wednesday.
