Two women struck by vehicle in Raymond, driver arrested

Police say the driver in an accident that left two women hurt in Raymond was under the influence.

The women were walking when they were struck near Tassel Top Beach.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says Jose Gomez, 31, of El Salvador was arrested after the incident.

The two women were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

One victim was seriously hurt, while the other suffered minor injuries.

Gomez was charged with reckless conduct and OUI causing serious bodily injury.
