Portland, Maine (AP)  The former dean of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy has been tapped to take over as dean of a pharmacy school in Maine.

The University of New England says Robert McCarthy will start his new position as dean of the University of New England College of Pharmacy on Aug. 1. He is professor of pharmacy practice and dean emeritus at UConn’s pharmacy school, which he first joined in 2001.

McCarthy has also had positions on the faculty at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Northeastern University and Boston University. University of New England president James Herbert says McCarthy was chosen because of his success in growing UConn’s pharmacy school.
