$1 million has been donated to the University of Southern Maine.

The money will go towards building a new Center for the Arts at USM’s Portland campus.

University officials say the donation comes from a long time friend who is a supporter of the arts.

According to the Portland Press Herald, officials estimated the center could cost around $50 million to build. The completed project will feature a concert hall with 1,000 seats and an art gallery.
