Walmart has settled with two Maine towns after contesting its tax bills.

According to the Bangor Daily News, the company lost two of its appeals to the state and settled with Ellsworth and Falmouth.

The settlement followed a written decision from the state Board of Property Tax Review in December that sided with the city of Brewer. The board said that, under state law, the company could not pursue the appeals because it did not provide information that was requested such as sales figures and property appraisals of other Walmart stores in Maine.

The company has argued that appraisals of its stores should be based on the value of the buildings and not the economic activity that takes place inside.
