MILLINOCKET, Maine (WGAN) An East Millinocket woman who went missing near Baxter State Park has been found safe.

Corporal John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service says Nancy Michaud was located Monday afternoon. She and her car were found stuck along a remote dirt road near Hurd Pond about 40 miles northwest of Baxter State Park. Michaud was somewhat dehydrated but otherwise in good health. She was brought back to East Millinocket.

Michaud planned to hike in the Mount Katahdin region on Sunday. Officials say her 2012 Nissan Sentra drove through the Caribou North Maine Woods entrance.

WLBZ-TV reports that her daughter said the car was found Sunday evening in the middle of the road with lights on, “and no one around.”
