Wardens Recover Body of Man Whose Motorboat Was Left Running on Lake

BELGRADE, Maine (WGAN) The body of a man whose motorboat was left running on a lake in Belgrade has been found.

Maine Wardens say the body of 64-year-old George Bonney of Sidney was recovered about a quarter mile away from his boat, which was reported to be unmanned but still operating in circles on Great Pond just before noon on Thursday. After several attempts, wardens were eventually able to stop the boat.

Bonney’s body was found floating in the water without a life jacket.

His body was brought to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta to determine a cause of death.
