RANDOLPH, NH (WGME) — A Washington state man police said was driving more than 100 miles per hour on Route 2 near a memorial held for seven motorcyclists killed in June faces a reckless driving charge.
Saturday afternoon, New Hampshire State Police arrested Dingming Zhou, 25, after a trooper clocked him driving 111 miles per hour i a 55-mph zone.
The incident happen around 1:40 p.m. Saturday near the memorial for the seven members of the Jarhead Motorcycle Club who died after being hit by a truck with a trailer.
Several New Hampshire State Police joined about 400 people for a ceremony honoring the Fallen 7, held at the Mount Jefferson View hotel where a memorial was unveiled.Zhou was charged with reckless driving and released, with a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 17 in Berlin Circuit Court.
While Zhou was driving alone, police said traffic in the area was extremely heavy due to people visiting the memorial and tourists taking in northern New Hampshire’s fall foliage.
“The roadways in northern New Hampshire are very busy this time of year and the New Hampshire State Police would like to thank you for your assistance in driving safely and obeying speed limits and traffic signs to help keep New Hampshire safe,” a state police press release said.
