A woman accused of setting small fires in Waterville has been found not responsible by reason of insanity.

Melissa Breznyak, 37, of Waterville was arrested last year for allegedly starting multiple bush fires with Molotov cocktails made from wine bottles.

According to CBS 13, a number of small fires were found near Cool St. in Waterville.

Police say Breznyak was in a mental health crisis when the fires took place.

They say she had called police the day before asking for help.

Breznyak is at a psychiatric center in Bangor, where she’ll remain until she’s no longer considered a threat to herself or the public.
