Wells Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Gray

GRAY, Maine (WGAN) A Wells man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash in Gray on Tuesday morning.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says 72-year-old Richard Shok was heading north on Route 26 when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree around near Mayberry Road around 7:30 A.M. Deputies from the sheriff’s office and Gray Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Shok was killed in the crash. Police say there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but speed and alcohol don’t appear to be factors.
