WINSLOW, Maine (WGAN) A Winslow man has been charged with arson for breaking into a real estate office over the weekend and setting a fire inside the building.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office charged 48-year-old Victor Dudley with arson, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking and criminal mischief.

Investigators say Dudley broke into the Century 21 offices at 11 Bay Street early Sunday morning. The damage was discovered later on Sunday when realtors came into the office, which had been ransacked. A small fire had been started on a desk but went out by itself.

He was charged with the crimes Thursday morning in his jail cell at the Kennebec County Jail, where he was being held after getting arrested on unrelated charges a few days ago.
