Woman Charged in Two-Year-Old’s Death

BUCKSPORT, Maine (WGAN)  State and Bucksport Police have arrested a Bucksport woman and charged her with murder in connection with the death of a two-year-old girl in 2017.

21-year-old Savannah Smith was arrested at the Spring Fountain Motel in Bucksport just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

Police say she had been indicted earlier in the day by a Hancock County grand jury.

Smith is charged in the death of 2-year-old Kloe Hawksley.  Smith was the partner of the child’s father, Tyler Hawksley.

Kloe was found dead inside a home at 264 Central St in Bucksport after a 911 call of an unresponsive child at the home on October 18, 2017.

State and Bucksport police say they have investigated the death since that time.

Smith was taken to the Hancock County Jail and will likely be in court either Friday or Monday.
