Woman charged with assault on an officer after arrest in South Portland

A Maine woman is accused of assaulting multiple police officers who tried to arrest her in South Portland.

25-year-old Angela Theriault was spotted by a patrol officer Saturday morning near Main Street. Theriault, who had an active warrant, left before the officer could arrest her.

K9s were used to track her to a home, where she threatened to jump out of a second-story window.

Police accuse Theriault of assaulting two officers before she could be taken into custody. One officer was treated and released from the hospital.

In addition to her underlying charges of burglary and criminal mischief, Theriault faces new charges, including assault on an officer.
