The operator of a vehicle that crashed through a guardrail and ended up submerged in a brook is now facing charges.

Police say 25-year-old Vanessa Poirier of Waterville was speeding and driving under the influence at the time.

Police say she ran a stop sign Tuesday evening at the intersection of Norridgewock Road and Center Road in Fairfield.

That’s when she crashed through the guardrail and ended up in Fish Brook.

She’s now charged with OUI, driving to endanger and failure to stop at a stop sign.

According to CBS 13, the woman got out of the vehicle and was on shore when police arrived.

She suffered minor injuries.
