Woman charged with threatening Sen. Collins found not competent to stand trial

BANGOR, Maine (AP) A judge has ruled that a Maine woman charged with threatening Republican Sen. Susan Collins in voicemails is not competent to stand trial.

Katrina Preble is charged with two counts of making interstate threats because the server that stores the voicemails is not located in Maine.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered her returned to a Texas facility that’s the only one in the federal prison system that can restore female defendants to competency.

Preble insisted on having the hearing on Tuesday held in-person rather than remotely, making it one of the first in-person hearings held in U.S. District Court in Bangor this year.
