Woman found unconscious, lying in street in Sanford

Sanford Police say a woman is in stable condition after an incident that left her unconscious and lying in the street Thursday morning.

Police and firefighters responded to the area of Twombley Road just before 3:00 a.m. They found the 39-year-old woman unconscious with a serious head injury lying in the road. She was taken to Maine Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon.

Police haven’t indicated what may have led to the injury, and say they’re still investigating. Anyone with information is being asked to give them a call.
