AUGUSTA, Maine (AP)   A Maine woman accused of beating her father with a fire poker in a drunken rage as a teen and leaving him with a fractured skull has pleaded guilty.

Briana Rideout entered her plea Tuesday to a reduced charge of misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to 150 days in prison.

The 21-year-old originally faced a felony assault charge after her father was hospitalized in March 2017.

Investigators say Rideout had been drinking prior to going to her father’s home in Randolph, where the two got into an argument over money.

Prosecutors say Rideout struck her father with the poker and a large piece of firewood, leaving him with fractures to his skull and bruises.

Her attorney says she has completed counseling and is doing well.
