Two bridges on I-295 in Freeport are being replaced.

The bridge at Exit 20 that carries Desert Road over the interstate and the bridge at Exit 22 that carries Mallett Drive over I-295 are being replaced, which will lead to traffic impacts.

Maine DOT says full closures of 295 may occur between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. for no more than 25 minutes at a time.

The department says work on the bridges began this year and is expected to conclude by the end of 2025.

The two replacements are part of a single contract totaling more than $25 million, using federal grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
